As with many rural properties, you have several options for internet and TV service, but not cable and fiber to your door. I did research and found three good choices. I ended up going with ViaSat (instead of HughesNet), which gives me a variety of speed and data options. I streamed my television, but you can sign up for DISH Network or DirectTV.

I chose ViaSat and have been using the cheapest option and it’s been fine for surfing the net, using email, watching TV shows and movies, etc. I had 400 Mbps with Xfinity at my home in metro Atlanta, and here at the farm, I had 12 Mbps and 3 down. The main difference I noticed is that during the day, pages can take about 7-8 seconds to load, and at night, sometimes 10-15 seconds. You can solve that issue by bumping up your connection speed. The low-end package with ViaSat is about $80/mo. (with discounts for your first three months).
